Becoming a Host-Site

The success of the Pittsburgh Health Corps (PgHC) depends on the dynamic interactions between the Corps and the community-based partner sites that host the Corps members. Through these relationships, PgHC members are able to fulfill the pressing needs of these community organizations and at the same time gain profound, hands-on experiences.  The PgHC Corps members and the host sites jointly help to facilitate health care initiatives that improve the quality of life of underserved populations in and around Pittsburgh.
PgHC Corps members have committed themselves to a year of service in the Pittsburgh community.  Although they come to the PgHC Corps with diverse backgrounds, they all share a common dedication to helping underserved communities.  PgHC members bring energy, commitment and creativity to the agencies where they serve. Organizations benefit tremendously by hosting an AmeriCorps member as members help expand organizational capacity, raise awareness of their organization’s presence in the community, and help deliver needed services to the organization’s clients.

Listed below are the organizations that are currently serving as placement sites for the 2011-12 grant year:

Now in its 17th year, the PgHC continually strives to create a diverse collaboration of Community and Faith-based partner sites to attract the most diverse Corps members. Each year, we have been fortunate to include both partners that have been a placement site since our first year  of existence and new sites that are partnering with us for the first time. Visit our Applying to Become a Host Site page for PgHC Partner Application information.

Our members have inspired us to do more and they provide fresh ideas year to year.  They are bright energetic people with a vested interest in serving.  We could not have been successful in our mission of serving others without their help.
